Piano Recital

Aren't they so cute?

Sarah and Drew had their Spring recital in May. (Sawyer plays too, but he was gone on a Scout Camp Out). This was Drew's first year of piano, but he progressed like crazy. He just might pass the other two up this year! (Just kidding--they all play nicely).
Doesn't he look like a crazy concert pianist?
We are lucky that lots of our friends take piano from the same teacher. Our recitals are like a family affair.

Life Is Great--Drew Turned Eight!

Our sweet Drewie just turned eight was baptized this last Saturday, June 13th. I'll have photos soon, but I just wanted to express what a beautiful baptism he had. He was baptized with two other kids from his class, Andrea S. and Parker C. They are all three sweet and laid back kids and the spirit was so strong at the baptism. The music was fantastic (Sarah and Parker's sister sang a wonderful song about the Savior). More later....

Field Trip Fun With Drew

Drew and Collin
The Greatest Teacher EVER!!

I won the drawing for Drew's class and was able to accompany his class on a field trip to a local nature preserve and park. We had so much fun, with neat classes on wetlands, fossils, erosion, and Native Americans. We went on a hike and even got to dig for our own fossils. I found a great shell one and Drew got one as well. We learned that there were never any dinosaurs in Kentucky, so anything you find that you believe is a dino fossil, is not. We also had lunch outside with my group, including some of Drew's buds. What a fun day, and the best part--I didn't have to ride the bus with all those kids!

Toothless in Kentucky!

Drew has finally lost one of his front teeth. Now he can use a straw without even opening his mouth! Isn't he cute?!

Flu, Flu, We've Got the Flu!

Yep. First Jackson and now Drew. I did have two and a half days in between! Poor babies. Headaches, body aches and a high fever. Drew has also had some congestion and a croupy cough at night, but I got him that flu medicine, so hopefully he will be better faster. He didn't want to miss school because he had perfect attendance! By the way, my grandmother is doing better. She is staying in a rehab center for a few more days and then will be going home. Thanks for praying for Daisy Jane. Have a healthy day and stay away from our house!

Shaved Turkey

Drew asked us if the turkey slices he was putting on his sandwich was "shaved turkey." "No, just regular turkey," we replied. "Oooh, gross!" he responded. "I don't like to eat turkey hairs!!" What?! Our crazy boy thought that shaved turkey meant that they shaved the turkey before they cooked it. Since our turkey meat wasn't "shaved", then it must still have "turkey hairs!" He's such a neat kid!

School Halloween Bash

Jackson insisted that all cowboys pose like this!

The kids enjoyed dressing up for their school's Halloween Bash. Drew designed his costume all by himself using things he already had around the house. Apparently he was a Spy/Secret Agent. Our neighbor is a real FBI Agent and he did comment that he dresses exactly like Drew when he goes to work. Drew also dressed Jackson up for us as well using stuff from our dress-up box. This is only one of the three costumes Jackson wore--none of which was the Ninja Turtle costume I actually purchased for him!

Sawyer and his "posse" are too cool to go to school in their costumes. They had lots of fun, in fact they had almost too much fun at the Bash. (We thought we might have to bail them out of jail by the end of the night). Just the type of situation that calls for some more candy, right?!

Blog Editor: Andrew Thomas

Drew was reading our blog today and apparently I had completely misrepresented his story about Ralph S. Mouse. He helped me correct all misinformation. Thank goodness for this smart little seven year old. We wouldn't want to let people think the mouse pants were not webkinz or that he did not receive the motorcycle for his birthday as well! I will have him proof every entry from now on....Have I ever mentioned that Drew is a 65 year old grandpa in a little boy's body?!

Ralph S. Mouse

Drew is a special boy. He loves his webkinz and he loves to read. His teacher, Ms Dziedzic, read Mouse and the Motorcycle this spring and he really liked it. Then he received the mouse webkinz for his birthday. Of course, he had to be named Ralph S. Mouse (S. is for Smart)! Drew also received the motorcycle for his birthday from his friend Evan. He takes Ralph S. Mouse (we always address him by his full name for some unknown reason) all around the house on rides. What a neat kid I have! Oh yeah, Ralph S. Mouse's pants are a pair of Webkinz slacks.....he is a modest mouse, you know!
P.S. This has been corrected by Drewie! Sorry for the mistakes.

Back to School (A.K.A "Day of Joy")

These are late, but I wanted to post my kids' back to school photos. It is a beautiful, sunny morning and they are all so excited. I love the way everyone jumps up and gets ready so fast on the first day of school! Sarah is in the seventh grade, Sawyer in the fifth, Drew in second, and Jackson is in his second and final year of preschool. Now, don't misconstrue my post. I totally love my children. I would throw myself in front of a bus to save them and all that jazz ... However, the first day of school always makes me feel GIDDY! ( Like angels singing "AHHH- Hal-le-lu-jah! ") Jackson and I cleaned the house, did several loads of laundry, went to Costco, took a nap, and still had time to go out for our annual "first day of school" celebratory lunch with my neighbor. The kids arrived home excited and hungry. We had our yearly first day snack--turkey and cheese bruschetta at my house and brownies at our neighbors. Our family loves to be together, but we also love some time apart to have our own adventures that we come back and share together! A side note: I think home-school moms are either Saints or Crazy! Go School!!! (Or should I say, "Go To School!")
